Show WELLMAN A PROPHET Walter Wellman, the well known journalist, was a failure as an aeronaut, aero-naut, but has come Into his own ns a prophet. Two and a half years ago ho published a book called "Tho German Republic," in which ho forecast tho end of tho war. through an armistice. He predicted the political revolution which has taken place In Germany, the abdication of the kaiser and tho founding found-ing of a republican form of government. govern-ment. Theso things have been fulfilled. ful-filled. His prophecies concerning the reorganization of the world with a league of nations, general disarmament, disarma-ment, international tribunals for settling set-tling disputes, permanent peace and a new era for the whole race arc yet to come to pass, but they are within the range of probability, and the journalist journal-ist takes rank with Mother Shlpton, if not with the prophets of ancient times. Of course, Mr. Wellman's vis-lon vis-lon was founded upon the assumption that the United States would take part in the war, and that the central powers pow-ers would be defeated in consequence. With this much for a starter, ho figured fig-ured out the rest of it with remarkable remark-able accuracy. Salt Lake Tribune. oo I |
