Show I Turkish Papers Advocate Separate Peace forOtaaos AMSTERDAM, Oct. 21 The correspondent corres-pondent at Constantinople of. the We-ser We-ser Zeitung of Bremen, says that it must be admitted public opinion for some time past favored a separate peace for Turkey. This view underwent under-went a change as a result of Prince Maximilian's speech in the relchstag, which also strengthened the position of the party of Union and Progress. Proposals are now being discussed, - the correspondent continues, for a reformation re-formation in Turkey, according to which Constantinople would become a free port and the fortifications of the Dardanelles dismantled, on condition thnt the powers guaranteed the continuance con-tinuance of Constantinople as the capitol of Turkey. It is further proposed pro-posed to grant autonomv to Arabia Syria, Armenia and the Jewish zone In Palestine. Influential Turkish newspapers continue con-tinue to advocate a separate peace with the entente. |
