Show II SPIRIT is m li HSTEI SMS Joseph Scowcroft, president of John Scowcroft & Sons company, has just returned from a trip to the east and he reports a wonderful war spirit pervading per-vading tho entire Atlantic seaboard. Mr. Scowcroft says that every man, from the humblest workman to the head of the biggest corporations Is bending every energy to tho production produc-tion of munitions and supplies for the soldiers across tho seas. While in tho east, Mr. Scowcroft visited vis-ited witii Fred Taylor, former secretary secre-tary of the Amalgamated company, but now in Washington in a responsible government position. Mr. Taylor Is working hard, said Mr. Scowcroft, and will render Invaluable service to tho country in his department of tho work. "The hotels nnd streets of Now York arc crowded with soldiers in uniform," said Mr. Scowcroft, "and one week ago today I was standing near the corner of Fifth avenue and Twenty-third street while a largo body of soldiers were marching by with flags flying and foot stepping in tune to martial music. The sight was very impressive impres-sive and tho crowd, which lined tho street, went wild with cheering and patriotic demonstration." -, rr . |
