Show Telephone andTelegraph Communication Is Seriously Seri-ously Hampered. DENVER, Colo., Oct. 26 Heavy sleet storms between Omaha and North Platte, Nebr., and between Kansas Kan-sas City and Garden City. Kan., today seriously hampered telephone and telegraph tel-egraph communication from Denver to points east. At the offices of the American Telephone and Telegraph company here it was said between four and five miles of poles were down in Nebraska. The most severe trouble in Kansas centered about fifty miles east of Dodge City. Only one telephone wire, and that one operated by the government was working east Union wires generally were in better condition. Reports to the local weather bureau showed a cold rain prevailing this morning at Kansas City and Omaha, the precipitation at the latter point amounting to r.ie inch in the last twenty -four hours. Snow was reported report-ed at Sioux -City, la., while generally lower temperatures prevailed in Kansas Kan-sas and Nebraska. At the telephone company's offices it was said linemen were making rapid rap-id progress and it was hoped to restore re-store some of the circuits by noon. oo |
