Show UNNECESSARY EMPLOYMENT AS DEFINED BY BULLETIN RECEIVED BY DRAFT BOARD Further information on "unnecessary "unneces-sary employment" as denned bj the selective service regulations is im hided hid-ed in the following bulletin received today by draft boards of Ogden from the adjutant general's office: "In the administration and enforcement enforce-ment of the amendments to selective service regulations which become effective ef-fective July 1. 1918. and which provide pro-vide for the withdrawal of deferred classification and order number of reg-Istrants reg-Istrants found to be idlers or engaged in nonproductive occupations or employments em-ployments you are Instructed as follows fol-lows : 1 Paragraphs A of section 121-K does not include managers, clerks, cooks or other employes unless they are engaged in the service of food and drink, or either. paragraph B of section 121-K include bell boys and porters, unless svefa porters are engaged in heavy work. 3 Paragraph C of section 121-K includes in-cludes (in addition to ushers and other oth-er attendants) all persons engagfd or occupied in games, sports and amusements, amuse-ments, excepi . ctual performers in legitimate le-gitimate concerts, operators or theatrical theat-rical performances. "4. Paragraph D of section IL'1-K does not includo public or private chauffeurs unless they are also engaged en-gaged in other occupations or 'employ ments defined by these regulations as non-produci Ive "5. "8. In nddition to the cases where reasonable excuses may be accepted for temporary Idleness or for being en-gasreil en-gasreil in a nonproductive occupation or employment, local boards and district dis-trict boards have authority under the regulations to withhold or postpone ac tion for a reasonable in cases where it appears that the registrant, in good taYi ic nr hn hon cpplrinc nrnrlnr-. I five employment, and that such reasonable rea-sonable postponement will enable him to secure such employment. "9. Local boards are instructed to co-operate with the state directors of the United States employment service or local agents of such service when advised of their appointment and loca-tion loca-tion in order that this agency of the government may be enlisted to obtain work of a productive character as soon as possible and with the least hardship hard-ship or inconvenience. To this end local lo-cal boards should furnish to such directors di-rectors or agents the names and addresses ad-dresses ofrfegistrants to whom notice has been given to appear; should furnish fur-nish such directors or agents with the names and addresses of registrants regis-trants who may inquire for information informa-tion in respect of a charge of emploj -ment and refer all registrants re-questing re-questing such information to the directors di-rectors or agents of the United States employment service.
