Show I; I CLCS I -j Calendar j 1916 500 Club. Members of the 1916 500 club were entertained at the home of Mrs. Fur-niss, Fur-niss, 555 Canyon road last Thursday .afternoon. The usual games of 500 Mrs. Shipley, Mrs. Preese and Mrs. j Hams. Following the card games the hostess served a tempting supper. Her f- dining table was effectively decorted with white and lavender chrysanthemums chrysanthe-mums as the centerpiece. The club will meet again in two .weeks with Mrs. John Smalloy as hos-I hos-I tess, at her home, 31G1 Washington 1 avenue. 1 Home Industry Club. Mrs. Snedakor was hostess to the : ladies of the Home Industry club at ' a spocial meeting last Wednesday when a social good time was enjoyed, the ladies playing several games of 500. Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Smith were the lucky players. Following the card games the hostess served a perfectly i prepared luncheon, plates being laid for eighteen guests. The dining table was pretty with Immense cbrysantho-mums cbrysantho-mums and fern as the central decora The members also planned work for the coming week. Their next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 14. Home Culture Club. Hj Ladles of the Home Culture club H , held n delightful meeting last Wcdnes-1 Wcdnes-1 day, November 7, at the home of Mrs. A. J. Beauvcrd wjien a program of in-tercst in-tercst was carried out, in a review of "World Literature." Five minute pa-pors pa-pors reviewing each chapter were giv-on giv-on by members of the club. Mrs. C. L. 1 Francis Smith reviewed the chapter 1 I on "What Can Literature Do for Me," Hj after which Mrs.. Horn gave a chapter, followed by Mrs. Moore who reviewed the chapter, "It Can Keep Before You I the Vision of the Ideal." "It Can Give i You a Better Knowledge of Human Na- turc" was the title of the chapter re- viewed by Mrs. Hobbs, while Mrs. Thompson read her review of chapter I "It Can Restore tbo Past to You." Mrs. 1 Jay Smith efficiently reviewed the chapter on "It Can Show You the Glory Hl of the Commonplace." The final chap-I chap-I ter was given by Mrs. Crawford and i covered "It Can Give You the Mastery I of Your Own Language." E. Beeson on Novem-3 Novem-3 ber 22. Episcopal Guild. The ladies of the Episcopal Guild hold one of the most entortaining meet-Hl meet-Hl ings of the year at the home of Mrs. P. A. Beck, 1506 Twenty-fourth street, (last Wednesday afternoon. The home H was prettily decorated for the occasion H with fall flowers and the ladies onjoy-fl onjoy-fl )' ied the afternoon in preparing for their i bazaar to be held in the guild hall in the near future. The ladies will hold their next meeting at tho home of Mrs. A. R. Mclntyre on Wednesday of the coming week at the Mclntyre home, 2560 Jefferson avenue. Masonic Club. The Masonic club held another of their pleasant dancing parties in the Masonic hall last evening, a large number num-ber of the members of the Ogden lodge and their wives being present. White Rose Club. Tho Whito T?neo nlnh lioll rtno the most entertaining of meetings last Thursday afternoon when they were the guests of Mrs. William Light at her home. The rooms were pretty with vases of white and yellow chrysanthemums. Several games of high-five were enjoyed, thei honors being won by Mesdamos Green, Ran-son Ran-son and Preece. Later Mrs. Light sorved refreshments, refresh-ments, plates being laid for the following: fol-lowing: Mesdames McBratney, Murphy, Mur-phy, Lansing, Lloyd, Preece, Turner, Day, Harris, Miller, Williams, Check-etts, Check-etts, Walker, Scherer, Porter, Welch and Ihk. Mrs. Walter Johnson of Green River, Wyo., was a guest of tho club for the afternoon. The next regular meeting of the club will bo held with Mrs. Scherer and Mrs. Fred Walker aB hostesses. Miriam Chapter O. E. S. Members of Miriam Chapter, No. 14, O. E. S., are requested to meet on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock In the Masonic club rooms. A full and prompt attendance is requested, as matters of Importance will come before be-fore the organization, i Regular Meeting. The resular meeting of Miriam Chapter, No. 14, O. When the Fine Arts club held its last meeting at the Weber academy on Thursday afternoon, November 8, a splendid program of dramatic art and music was giyen. Russell Petty gave one of the most entertaining talks yet heard by the members when , he spoke of the life of the great painter, Buencvenlo Cellini. Miss , Belle Terry followed with an en-i en-i lightening paper on the life of Titian. ' Tho reading of War Brides, so ably given by Mrs. Pardoe at a number of I church and social affairs, was read in ' hor usual fine, interpretative manner, man-ner, after which Miss Dorothy Wright ! sang two Italian songs, "In the Land : of Sky Blue Waters" and "The Bugle Song." The next meeting of the club 'will ) be held in the Weber academy on Thursday afternoon, November 15, when Miss Mary Woolley will read the play, "Adventures of lady Ur. sela," by Anthony Hope. A number 1 of musical numbers will also be given. Sompre Musical Club. Tho Sempro Musical club met at a the homo of Miss Louise Pierce last i Saturday afternoon when a delightful '- program was carried out. Mrs. Les-r Les-r 11c SaYllle gave an interesting paper of "Public School Music," after which Mrs. Melba Read Jones sang the "Lullaby" from Jocelyn by Berceuse and Miss Ida Anderson gave two pleasing violin selections. The ext meeting of the club will be held at the home of Mrs. Leslie Savllle, tho president, next Saturday, November 17, when Miss Anderson will give a paper on "American Com posers." Mrs. Savllle will bo chairman chair-man of tho meeting. Dinner Club. MrB. Leslio Savllle entertained her ning, a most delicious repast being sorved to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Volker, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McKay, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pardoe, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Evans, Mr. and Mrs. James Scowcroft and Mr. and Mrs. Savillo. The table was pretty with a crystal basket of red roses as. the centerpiece. Following dinner din-ner the guests enjoyed cards and music. L. A. to O. R. C. Social Club. The Social club of the L. A. to the O. R. C. mot at the home of Mrs. Turner on Canyon road last Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon at which the lucky playgames play-games of 600 at which the lucy players play-ers wero Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Gulllher and Mrs. Shields. Mrs. Turner served serv-ed a dainty lunch before the guests departed. The next meeting will be held on December 12 with Mrs. Han loy on Royal avenue. Ftdeluo Club. The Fidelus club, composed of some of Ogdcn's most talented young ladies met last Saturday at the home of Miss Ovedia Holther when a de lightful program of splendidly pre. pared papers and" victrola selections was enjoyed. Mrs. Norma Farr Wilcox Wil-cox proved her ability in writing an interesting article when she read an excellent paper on the compqscr Al-ber Al-ber Spalding. Miss Sara Albert fol lowed with a paper regarding Ysaye, Illustrative of the compositions of these noted musical artists, were tho selections by Ysaye and Spalding played on the victrola. The next meeting of the club will be hold at the home of Miss. Lenoro Sorsby. : Martha Society. Mrs. H. IT. Spencer will be hostess to the Martha society at its next regular regu-lar meeting at the home of Mrs. Walker, Walk-er, 563 Twenty-fifth street. The society's so-ciety's ball will be given November 20 in the Berthana and will bo patriotic in all its featu res. Society folk are already planning to attend the largest social event of the season which will probably surpass the affairs . given in years prior. OGDEN CIRCLE C. L. & S. READERS. Next Monday at 8 o'clock the Ogden ( Circle of the C. L. and S. C. will meet at the home of Mrs. J." .1. Malone, on Quincy avenue. The book now being I taken up by the circle readers is "Characters and Evjents In Roman History," His-tory," by Ferroro, the greatest living Italian historian.
