Fulton as clerk of the municipal court was formally confirmed con-firmed by the board of city commissioners commis-sioners at their regular meeting last night. Tho reappointment of Mr. Fulton by Judge Barker, not only was confirmed by the commissioners but It will be unanimously endorsed by tho officers of the department, the sheriff's department depart-ment and the citizenship in general. Ho has occupied that position for years. Dr.. W. R. Brown, on nomination by Mayor T. Samuel Browning, was appointed ap-pointed city physician to succeed Dr. Kanzlor. Dr. Brown's selection was unanimous. Dr. Brown has offices in the First National bank building and is a wellknown and successful physic- (Bt-au-i n in 1 1 h i .ami mi I I u .mi. ii r m. m lan and surgeon. His appointment will meet with popular approval. Miss Harriet Marberger's reappointment reappoint-ment aa stenographer in tho office of tho clerk of the municipal court also was confirmed at last night's meeting. Miss Marberger was appointed by Judge Barker. Claudo J. Flowers was named poll tax collector. Because the commissioners desired to analyze the budget now being prepared pre-pared by City Auditor Arthur Lar-sen. Lar-sen. the petition of tho police department depart-ment for an increase in salaries, was held over for a short time. It is certain cer-tain that the officers will be given an incroase, as each member of the commission com-mission has declared himself favorable. favor-able. An annual report of tho water woiks department was submitted and approved. ap-proved. The report shows tho city has profited to tho extent of $67,120.25 during tho past year after paying the expenses of tho department. Tho gross receipts were $114,711.31 and the expenses ex-penses $47,591.06. The commissioners deemed this a good report on a profitable prof-itable branch of the public affairs. At today's session, the commissioners commission-ers allowed bills in the treasury department de-partment for $1,169.60. Of this total. $1,120.12 was interest on the bonded indebtedness. The bills in tho engineering engi-neering department totaled $106.08; and in the water works, $38.50. oo |
