Show AIDING THE WESTERN j FARMER Latetly the agricultural department I of the government has issued a i pamphlet which should be of great aid ' to inexperienced farmers in the west, !and is known as "Practical Informa-i Informa-i tion for Beginners in Irrigation." It (dea.ls in a simple, practical way with j the special problems that face tho settler set-tler when he starts to develop land on irrigation projects. The various chap-, chap-, ters deal with tho selection, location, J and preparation of land for a farm, the construction of ditches, division j boxes, and other structures and .tho , principles of irrigating alfalfa, grain, potatoes, fruit, truck and other crops, without waste of water. And tho bulletin by the department deals with the supply of water for irrigation ir-rigation by the use of windmills. In parts of Idaho, whqre the air currents aro stronger than in Utah, windmills should be of great sorvice. Even here in Utah, more windmiHs should be employed. |
