Show CHANGES MADE ON ARMY FRONT General Boroevic to Succeed Archduke Eugene in Austrian Command in Italy. ITALIAN HEAD QUARTERS IN NORTHERN ITALY, Monday, Jan. 21. (By the Associated Press.) General Szetozar Boroevic has been appointed to succeed tho Archduko Eugene in command of the entire army front against Italy and It is believod that the change may have a considerable effect on the campaign. Tho two conspicuous enemy figures on this front have been Field Marshal Conrad von Hootzendorf, commanding tho mountain front, and General Boroevic, Boro-evic, commanding along the Piavo. General Boroevic is the junior of the field marshal. Field Marshal Conrad von Hoetzondorf, who retains the command on the mountain front, has represented the extreme element? opposed op-posed to Italy. General Boroevic's tastics on the Italian front havo been uniformly defensive, de-fensive, rarely offensive. Tho appointment of General Boroevic, Boro-evic, therefore, is construed as confirming con-firming reports that the enemy proposes pro-poses to maintain a defensive attitude on the Italian front for the present. It is also regarded as a condescension element of Austria as. Boroevic is of Slavo-Croatian origin. General Boroevic Boro-evic stands entlroly outside the military mili-tary court favorites liko Conrad von Hootzendorf, who up to this tlmo has directed the Austrian military policy against Italy. |
