Burtis GsAKaSft fpHE other day I fairly boiled with Indignation when a man who directs di-rects the activities of a store In the Middle West said there was nothing: patriotic in the minds of American women when they came to the purchasing pur-chasing of wearing apparc. He said: "Women are not interested In any efforts of American designers; they want the stamp of Pari? on their cjothes. no matter how faint ( that stamp may be mark a thing Imported Im-ported and they do not question. 1 am not interested in horns products. I advertise everything can as having the approval of Paris. I know what women want and I gl e it to them. I am in business to make money. I have said I boiled with indigna tlon at this mean estimate of American Ameri-can women, and so I did for a moment, and then reason prevailed and indignation indig-nation turned to pitying contempt for the man who voiced such sentiments. I know women the women of now better than to believe that he is right. The lure of "imported" no longer has the charm it once possessed. Wo are coming to know that American skill, ingenuity and effort produce much that we should be proud of, much that we are delighted to wear. And this does not mean that we are not interested in Paris modes, that we are not happy in the possession of something imported or adapted from an imported article. We do not need to disparage French ability, to withdraw patronage from imported productions because of our ever in creasing interest in home production But wc are no longer silly about the label "imported" on our wearing apparel, ap-parel, and we should and will without doubt realize more and more as time goes on that one big proof of our pa- 1 triotism It In our support and appreciation appre-ciation of home production. ""Be Loyal to America1 To arms, my sisters. In the cause of commercial safety, for the prosperity of the future is dependent upon our loyalty to American-made goods.
