Show TEARS HELP TO SAVE A MAN FROM 10 FINE Earl Urquhart was arrested last evening eve-ning near the depot by Deputv Sheriffs Sher-iffs Soulo and West and booked at the station on a charge of being intoxicated intoxi-cated When he came up for trial today, to-day, Urquhart told such a straightforward straightfor-ward story that Judge Barker gave him the benefit of the doubt and found him not guilty. The man was almost in tears. Ho said that he had not had a drink since leaving Evanston. He did not have the appearanco of a drinking man. He appealed to the Judge, stating that he would not be the one to suffer were ho forced to remain in jail for fifty days, but that his wife and son would be the victims. According to his story, he is qndeavoring to get the family from Colorado to Moscow, Idaho, their home. He said he got off the train here and was Inquiring where ho could find a restaurant when the ofllcers approached approach-ed and plafcd him under arrest. He started to cry, which led the officers to believe he had a crying Jag. His pitiiul story and the clrcumstancos, which pointed to the conclusion that the officers were over-zealous in their duty. led Judge Barker to give the man tho benefit of the doubt and turn Urquhart Urqu-hart loose. |
