Show COAL WEEK IN OGDEN. The coal men of Ogden have endorsed en-dorsed The Standard's editorial on fuel storing, and they add to what The Standard said by declaring there is uncertainty as to the fuftre supply of coal, if the home owners do not look ahead and provide against a possible pos-sible scarcity. The following has been received from the office of the Lion Coal company com-pany : "gden Standard: I have Just received re-ceived an article from the fuel administration admin-istration at Washington, copy of which 1 am attaching. The situation in the west is taking a serious turn because of the extreme labor shortage, the minps In Utah and Wyoming having only about 50 per cent of the normal labor supply, and so far as the west is concerned this advice from the fuel administration ad-ministration to place orders early should be taken seriously and especially espe-cially by the people of Ogden." Here are extracts from the fuel administration's ad-ministration's statement in regard to "coal week." "The week of June 3 to 8 has been designated as 'coal week by the United Unit-ed State fuel administration. While for several weeks special effort hav been made throughout the Uniu-d States to urge the early ordering of coal there will be a special intensive drive on early ordering during 'coal week.' "Together with the urgent appeal to the industries as well as to the domestic do-mestic consumers to order their coal early there goes the request that those who get their orders in. wait patiently for deliveries. It is being pointed out that, of course, the entire coal output I of the country cannot be delivered within a few months. But is equally true that those orders that are first in the hands of the dealers will be the first delivered. "In every state of the union preparations prepara-tions have been made to bring the United States fuel administration's e;irly coal ordering message squarely before the people. Thousands of motion mo-tion picture theaters will carry the message; four-minute speakers will address hundreds of audiences; poster displays will be shown in every large city and throughout the country communities, com-munities, and the coal dealers everywhere every-where have heen enlisted in the big coal week drive." |
