Show A. R. HEYWOOD DECLINES TO , -TALK, BUT T. S. BROWNING ' , COMMENTS ON ELECTION Election returns of Ogden, particularly particu-larly the vote by which T. Samuel Browning was elected over Mayor A. R- Heywood, were thoroughly discussed discuss-ed by many Ogden citizens this morning, morn-ing, different men versed in political affairs having various ideas as to the reasons for the victorv of the mayor-elect mayor-elect Mayor Heywood was asked this morning by a representative of the Standard for a statement as to his views regarding the election returns, but said that ho did not desire to make any comments, "I have sent my congratulations to Mr. Browning today, he added. "The people have expressed their choice and the decision has been made." Commissioner Flygare said today that ho nnticlpatod proceeding, as far as his, work In tho city admipistration was concerned, along the same lines pursued during the past four years. Attention was called to the fact by various officials that Commissioner Flygare has been in the city commission commis-sion work with both Mayor-elect Browning and Commissioner Jones, who will be his colleagues during the next two years. Browning's Statement. Mr. Browning said this afternoon: "I beg to express my sincere thanks to tho good citizens of Ogden for the confidence they expressed by their vote at the recent election in imposing impos-ing upon me tho exalted title of mayor of the city. In keeping with my preelection pre-election statement, I shall aim to so conduct tho 'affairs of my ofQce as to advance tho growth and general welfare wel-fare of the city. Ogdon is my native city and all my Interests are centered here and 1 shall be very pleased If, at tho end Qf my term of office, I can have left a record justified by the confidence confi-dence of those who elected me. I shall be glad to co-oporato with the citizens in matters portaining to the administration adminis-tration and welfare of Ogden. The latch string of the mayor's office will be on the outside." |
