Show j Theatres AT THE ORPHEUM. The Orphcum theater has an unusually unus-ually good offering tho fore part of this -week in "The Wife He Bought." This is a five reel drama of social life which shows the depth a man's vindictive vindic-tive spirit will lead him to reach in gaining revenge. Carmel Meyers and Kenneth Harland are tho leads. Harlan has tho part of Steele Valiant, Val-iant, whose father has been ruined and broken by James Drieaon. The son is pledged to seek revenge, and break Brieson. Ho does this and brings him to utter ruin. Then he marries his daughter, detesting her wholo hearted-ly, hearted-ly, to press his revenge further on Brieson's family. Just when it seems that his plans have reached tholr utmost ut-most success tho situations change and the two young people find that they lovo each other and that Jife holds nothing but happiness for them. In addition to this picture there aro two comedies which contain enough of ludicrous situations and comedy to keep tho audience laughing for the whole evening. AT THE UTAH In "Tho Shell Game," which starlod last evening at the Utah theatre Manager Man-ager Fyhn has secured a film of notable nota-ble merit. This is a film which will bring one out of his apathy and make him sit up and take notice. It is tho picturization of a story which appeared ap-peared In tho Saturday Evening Post and tho picture is as interesting as tho story. It shows a deal in underworld "high finance" Silk TVilkins, the smoothest crook who over tried a job attempts to work a millionaire real estato dealor through tho Christmas sentiment senti-ment route out of a big gob of money. It is a treat to see how he goes at It and how ho is brought expectantly up to tho climax only to have his well laid plans smashed. But Silk Introduces a girl to the millionaire as his long lost daughter and she fills such a place In his heart that nothing but a marriage will do. Silk gels a thousand of gratltudo money and is not "sent up," the millionaire gets his wife and the girl gets a husband. This is a corking good plot and the story is told with action and Interest. With this film Is a chuckling good comedy and a report of current events, showing some interesting war scenes from the Italian front, where a crowd of Austrian prisoners arc lined up after af-ter capture. |
