(By the Associated Asso-ciated Press.) Except for the laying down of barrages here and there along tho line on the British front and the usual harassing fire from both sides, the front this morning "was quiet. British officers havo learned that news from the Aisne-Marne front Is now filtering into tho German trenches trench-es opposite the British lines. One German prisoner said he had heard of the Gorman failure . at Rheimsbut, he added, he had been told that S00 Entente allied tanks had been in operation so he seemed inclined in-clined to excuse tho Teutonic defcaL It is evident that the German defeat on tho Marne is having full effect among the German emperor's troops on this front despite the meagerncss of their knowledge. The prisoners knew nothing of tho Entente allied advance ad-vance to Fere-en-Tardenois. |
