Official reports issued by the British Brit-ish naval authorities give the names of commanders of U-boats who have suffered death when their submarines have been destroyed. Included in the number are Schweiger who sank the Lusltania and Wagenfuhr who put down the Belgian Prince. Two greater murderers never escaped es-caped the guillotine or the scaffold. I Schweiger, when he gave the com-mand com-mand to fire the torpedo that de-jstroyed de-jstroyed the Lusitania, knew he was violating all the rules of honorable warfare and was sending to watery graves hundreds of helpless women and children. No man of soul would have committed that horrible crime. Wagenfuhr, in sinking the Belgian Prince, proved himself a barbarian. He took the crew' off the ship, lined up the men on the deck of the submarine, subma-rine, forced his victims to cast off their life belts and then with the U-boat U-boat speeding through the waves, . ' . . submerged. Only one of the men survived sur-vived to tell his story. Those representatives of German kultur have placed dark blothcs on tho German people |
