Show PRIZES FOR WAR GARDENS OF UTAH SALT LAKE, July 12. In recognition recogni-tion of the activity of Utah women In war. garden conservation work the national na-tional war garden commission has apportioned ap-portioned $1000 to bo distributed as prizes among the five best conservationists conserva-tionists in the state. This word was received In a telegram tele-gram last night by Mrs. Jeanetto Hyde, chairman of tho Utah women's conservation conser-vation committee'". For today Mrs. Hyde has called a meeting of Mrs. A. J. Gorham, Miss Gertrude McCheyne and other members of the committee, and plans for the allotment of the prizes will be formulated. Every district in the state Is to be represented in the final awards, and the first step will be to notify the county chairman of each county in Utah, according to Mrs. Hyde, who is preparing tho letters. This will furnish the groundwork for the campaigns in the various counties. coun-ties. It shows the women feel that the commission is appreciative of the work which they have done In making tho large Increase in tho war gardens which they did last year. It is understood by the committee that groups or organizations can compete for the prizes, and that the foodstuffs which are preserved or dried may also be shown at state or county fairs and other exhibitions. |
