Show EAGLES TO GIVE THEIR HALL FOR DAUGHTERS OF PIONEERS TO SERVE BANQUET TO BOYS I I I Drafted men, their parents, wives, sweethearts" and friends will be entertained enter-tained on Saturday evening with a farewell social and program as guests ;of the city and county. There will be approximately 30 men in the party of honor guests and they will be given an appropriate send off. The affair will bo in the Eagles club, the organization having extended the use of its immense im-mense hall for this purpose as a patriotic pa-triotic contribution. The Daughlers of the Pioneers have made plans to furnish fur-nish the banquet part of the event and to also serve IL It is probable that a substantial lap lunch will be served. A program has been tentatively worked out by the committee consisting consist-ing of "Attorney W. H. Reeder, chairman; chair-man; Alonzo West and Harvey Cahill, and Includes speeches, singing and other oth-er appropriate features. Tho invocation invoca-tion will be by President L. W. Shurt-liff. Shurt-liff. A speech "The Veteran," will be given by Judge John D. Murphy. Mayor May-or Heywood will speak on "The Community's Com-munity's Duty to the Soldier Boy" and i William Lowder, chairman of the coun-ty coun-ty exemption board, will respond with a speech on "The Soldier Boy's Duty to the Home Community." Lieutenant W. S. Nichols, local naval recruiting officer, will give a speech on "Our Navy." It is proposed also to have speeches given on the subjects "The Father of a Soldier Boy' and "Tho Fate of the Kaiser," but' the speakers have not been secured. Supt. E. S. Hinckley of the State Industrial school has been requested to speak on "The Supreme Test, Morality." Several solos, a quartette and Instrumental Instru-mental music will aid interest to the program. This event will be arranged so that the parents and friends of the boys departing can be with them at all times, and will be expected to accompany ac-company the soldiers to the hall and participate In the function. Six o'clock Saturday has been fixed as the time for tho gathering. The benediction on behalf of the community for the departing soldiers will he given by Rev. John Edward Carver. |
