Show PAINTIl OF BISHOP M'QUARRIE GIVEN TO SECOi WARD At the sacrament meeting held at the Second ward chapel last evening the audience was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of a Ufe-sizo oil painting of the late Bishop Robert Mc-Quarrie. Mc-Quarrie. The portrait was presented by George Shorten and the acceptance address was by Bishop Browning. Bishop McQuarrie was the founder ; of the Second ward and for forty years 1 bishop. The picture will hand in a permanent perma-nent place provided in the chapel. It Is suggested that the picture be placed at the side of the list of soldiers of the ward as tho bishop had a' love for the boys which was probably greater than that of any ono else outside the families. The painting is by Prof. Willard Ballam, son of Robert McQuarrie. The art critics at the Utah Agricultural college, where the picture was on exhibition, ex-hibition, claim it to be. a masterpiece, i Prof. David Hughes, wood carver atj the U. A. C, made the frame which ; also deserves special mention. j Tho portrait is said by the people I of the ward to be as perfect as life. I It shows the late bishop in a sitting; position and is about four by seven i feet: in size. I I |
