Show INSURANCE TIEN DUTBYTHE BOYS LOGAN, Utah, Doc. 3 The men of the Student's Army Training corps at the Utah Agricultural College have taken out government insurance to the amount of $5,538,500 and this sum will probably be raised to six millions before the men are demobilized, according ac-cording to a statement just issued by Lieutenant George B. Henrlcks, personnel per-sonnel officer of the regiment. One and ono-half millions of this amount was written in ono whirlwind hour. FIvo hundred and ninety-fcrnr men have taken out insurance, most of them for the full amount allowed $10,000. Every man in the regiment has been given an opportunity to secure se-cure insurance and It is expected that practically every member of the unit will be Insured by tonight. After, .Monday .Mon-day no new insurance can bo offered. Lieutenants Hendricks and Harris, the latter assistant personnel officer, are highly gratified at the excellent showing made. "Most of tljo men appreciate fully tho wonderful opportunity allowed them to secure insurance at such extremely ex-tremely low rates," said Lieutenant Hendricks in reviewing the work of the personnel officers. "Thero is a tendency on the part of some men, however, now that- the war is over, to discount the value of Die insurance and there is some danger of a fow men letting their insurance lapse. "This should not be. The fact that our country has boon losing as many citizens every week due to the pres-ont pres-ont epidemic of influenza as it lost in Franco due to an entire year's fighting fight-ing should prove conclusively tho val- uo of keeping this government insur-1 nnce In effect. Wo are in receipt of I ihany wires from the war department urging upon the men that they keep up their payments. Every father and mother, every wife, should insist that their sons and husbands retain their insurance. "The insurance remains in forco for five years. At the end of that period each man must convert his insurance in-surance Into some standard form, such as twenty payment life, ordinary life, or endowment. This privilege to convert con-vert may be exercised at any time within the five years. This does not mean that the Insuranco will bo transferred trans-ferred to a private company. The government will still be the- Insuring agent and tho rates will be amazingly low " oo |
