Show I CROP OUTLOOK IS GOOD. Stimulated by a campaign of publicity pub-licity appealing to their patriotism, the farmers of the United States have broken a record in crop production. On August 1, according to government govern-ment reports, the corn crop promised to total over three billion bushels, or many million bushels above the record rec-ord crop of 1912. White potatoes will yield nearly a half billion bushels, -which will exceed ex-ceed the 1912 crop by 10 per cent Sweet potatoes also are above all past records. Buckwheat and oats are very close to the record of 1915.. Wheat is 13,000,000 bushels more than Inst year, but 1916 was a disappointing disap-pointing period. If the people of the United States will begin to eat more corn bread and corn products generally, the wheat shortage will never be missed. j |
