Show GOVERNMENT MAKING A MISTAKE. In an effort to throw off a part of the greatly increasing burdens which have come to the federal government since tho opening of tho war, the authorities at Washington have notified noti-fied their agents and the governors of Western slates that, hereafter, labor problems must be solved by the states. This, in our opinion, is a mistake. The I. W. W. requires a stronger, more far-reaching hand of discipline than can be applied by any one state. These labor troubles are a part of a conspiracy to weaken the federal government gov-ernment and should be dealt with as acts of war and squelched with all the power of the mailed fist No governor has at his command the forces, the mere presence of which can overawe as does the army of tho United States. Washington doos not fully understand under-stand tho temper of tho American poople in this war. The plain citizen citi-zen is demanding a powerful central government, panoplied in war, with overy move disclosing firmness and strength. For the time, we are out of our clothes of meek civility and into the armor of' might, with visage stern and voice commanding. |
