Show JURY fSllil CM OF m View Scene of Disaster in Elk River Valley Many Lives Not Accounted For. PERNIE, B. C, July 31. Gasping from the effects of the fumes of the smoldering fire which swept through the Elk River valley Saturday, taking eleven lives, a coroner's jury conducting conduct-ing an inquest over the victims yesterday, yes-terday, viewed the scene of the disaster disas-ter in a downpour of rain. While all of the men caught in the conflagration have not yet been accounted for, it is presumed that the missing men are living. Tho jury tonight recommended restrictions re-strictions in the use of Inflammables In the woods and the granting of greater great-er authority to those engaged in forest for-est conservation. Another fire, said to be incendiary, broke out in the colliery at Michel yesterday morning, but was brought under control. |
