Show i Free Time for Holding Domestic Domes-tic Freight Reduced to Relieve Re-lieve Congestion. WASHINGTON, Aug. 29. Proposals by the railroads to reduce from five days to two the free time allowed for holding domestic freight at New York for unloading inteuded as a stop to relieve congestion there, tentatively j wore approved today in a report to tho I interstate commerce commission by Its attorney examiner. The commission has not yet passed upon the report nor approved the findings. The proposal to increase storage charges on both export and domestic shipments not handled within the proposed pro-posed two day free limit was also tentatively ten-tatively approved in the report. It adopted tho proposed reduction in free time would cut by GO per cent the free time now allowed for unloading. The proposal to reduce tho free time of 15 days for handling export shipments ship-ments at North Atlantic ports and the free time of 10 days allowed at gulf, ports to five days wascondemned in the report- oo |
