Show IMA M WINS . $3000 PURSE POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., Aug. 2S. Ima Jay, tho favorite, owned and drlv- en by Harvey Ernest of Wamma, Ohio, today won the Poughkeepsle 2:11 trot for a purse of ?3000, the feature event of the opening day 6f the Poughkeep-sie Poughkeep-sie grand circuit meeting. Royal Mac driven by Thomas W. Murphy, won the first heat, showing a remarkable burst of speed in the home stretch and overtaking over-taking Ima Jay, which was leading. Ernest sent Ima Jay out in tho lead when the word was given in the sec ond heat, and setting a fast pace, the mare was never headed. Murphy again challenged in the last- furlong, but Royal Mac did not respond. The time for this heat was 2:06, the fastest heat of the race. Ima "jay won the third heat in a driving finish from Bacelli, with Royal Mac third. Walter Cox's North Spur was picked to win the 2:21 trot but the Brook Farm horse, Suldine, had too much speed for him and won in straight heats, although the finishes were very closo. Tho 2:13 trot went six heats before Jess Y the popular choice, was returned re-turned a winner. Indira won tho first heat and The American Girl the sec- ! I ond.
