Show IDS IE DAMAGED B WATER FROM DITCHES Complaints have been registered with the county road officials by auto-mobilists auto-mobilists who have occasion to use the gravel highways running through districts watered hy irrigation. It Is charged that farmers are ruining tho roads by a- misuse of the irrigation water. Turned'on at the beginning of the irrigation season, the water, according to the complaining automobilists, is allowed to run alongside and in some cases over the road until the gravel roadbed is washed away and made dangerous for travel. Washing away of the gravel roadbed means that the taxpayers will bo forced to pay to havo tho roads repaired. re-paired. Automobilists aver that if the farmers would use tho irrigation water pparingly. shutting it off occasionally so that the roads would not be constantly con-stantly flooded and in a muddy condition, condi-tion, the life of tho highways would bo greatly lengthened. Besides complaining of the flooding of the roads in some places throughout through-out this part of the state, autoists having hav-ing occasion to use the Ogden canyon road arc calling attention to the dangerous dan-gerous condition of that road in some places where the high wators of the past winter have caused the bank to be washed away and in some places to nearly undermine the road. oo |
