Show POLICE CHIEF WILL LOOK UP LICENSES Salt Lake, Sept. 12. That they must cpmply with the city ordinance by making application for licenses s the notice being served upon proprietors proprie-tors of the Commercial street resorts by order of Commissioner Karl A. Scheld of the department of public affairs af-fairs and finance. The applications which tho operators opera-tors of the places will be forced to make for rooming house licenses will come before the city commission for consideration and will in regular order or-der be referred to the chief of police for Investigation and report. Upon the report of the chief of police po-lice as to the manner In which each rooming house is conducted, whether or not It Is conducted In a disorderly manner and whether or not the proprietor pro-prietor has a federal liquor license, the city commission is accustomed to base its action In granting or denying a license. Possession of a federal liquor license has always been regarded re-garded as justification for denial of a rooming houso license, being looked look-ed upon as evidence that the proprietor proprie-tor intends to sell liquor without Incurring In-curring the risk of federal prosecution, prosecu-tion, but, as well, without regard to the municipal license law. oo |
