Show Ij THE WEATHER MAN ON "SAFETY FIRST" TRAIN. On tomorrow the "Safety First" train -being sent across the continent by the government, will arrive in Og-den Og-den over the Union Pacific. Tho trip is for the purpose of stimulating., stimu-lating., interest in the work the gov-eminent gov-eminent is doing in encouraging safety first devices. ' The statement is made that a staff of attendants and lecturers equipped with moving picture and stereoptlcan I apparatus accompanies the train for the purpose of giving Individual explanation ex-planation of exhibits that prove particularly par-ticularly interesting to visitors as well as delivering Illustrated lectures each evening. The farmer, stockman and horticulturist horti-culturist will find much there of interest in-terest to him In connection with his regular work as will also the banker, 1 the merchant, factory owner and la borer everyone is Invited to visit this train while In Ogden it Is everyone's every-one's interest to do so. The housewife, house-wife, -the maid, the nurse and the school teacher have special sections devoted to things pertaining to their ' work, One of the sections of Lb train Is J devoted to weather, and though this, may seem to bo an uninteresting subject to bo explained by exhibits, qulto tho contrary Is truo. A short statement on tho work of the weather bureau and what the exhibits consist of Is presented. As has been so frequently supposed, tho weather forecaster does not go about his work in a hap-hazzard way. Everything is dono on a scientific? basis, the most delicate Instruments being brought into use and it Is only after consulting these and making calculations and measurements that a prediction is ventured. On the "Safety First" special will be shown a complete working set of the Instruments In-struments that the government forecaster fore-caster employs In predicting weather. In addition, In the car that Is given over to this exhibit, will be one of the government's forecasters and while the train is stopping In Ogden, he will make his forecast, predicting some future weather. This official Is not the serious, crabbed sort of a fellow that you would expect to meet, Dut instead, oven it ne does nave to deal with tornadoes, hot winds, blizzards bliz-zards and thunder storms, he is as jolly as they make, and like a good deal of weather, there is a lot of sunshine sun-shine In his make-up. He will take plenty of time to tell you how he arrives ar-rives at his conclusions, how he makes calculations; will , explain the instruments used and, when you leave him, you will be a semi-expert In weather. The result Is that about nine times out of ten the predictions are correct cor-rect and, whore they are watched and followed, have become of Incalculable valuo to the farmors and business men. In many localities that are reasonably close to government weather station, farmers beforo starting start-ing on any branch of the farm work will by telephone call up the weather station and secure the predictions for tho next twenty-four hours before be-fore venturing on the undertaking.
