Show WORK ON CITY'S NEW ITER SUPPLY IS TO STSRT SOON The well driving machinery recently purchased by the cit will bo installed at the city'8 propertj near HuntBVllle April 28, and on the following day an expert representing the eorapan from which the machinery' waB purchased, will begin its operation in the driving of an experimental well 500 feet or more in depth. Mayor Fell states that the expert will run the machinery machine-ry until such time as a man selected by the board of commissioners shall have sufficient knowledge of its use to handle It. It is said that if the four-inch experimental ex-perimental well develops more water at greater depths than the present wells, a number of six inch well."? will be driven. The pipe is on hand and it Is expected ex-pected that before the summer is over more than I0.0fi0.0oo gallons of water each day will be furnished by the flowing wens in the meantime tne 36-incb wood stave pipe will be laid between the wells and the Wheeler Creek intake of the present pipe line to the city reservoirs, so that the artesian arte-sian water may be turned into the water wa-ter system of tbe city during low water wa-ter time, if necessary The first trench digging b the Green Construction company of Tooele Too-ele will be between the artesian wella and the Wheeler creek intake, and four crws of stave pipe fitters will be put to work as soon as the trench lias been started With the exception of a rocky point around the mountain-end mountain-end at the power dam. the trench work practiridly will be in soft ground from the wells to Wheeler creek From Wheeler creek to the Cold Water canyon pipe line there will be more rock work, but even in this division di-vision the trench digging will not be difficult, as the survey follows closely close-ly along the county road and. In places pla-ces will be under the roadbed. However, How-ever, there is some rock work to be done and the Tooele company has placed a corps of powder men at work on the tunnel, immediately east of the Cold Water canyon connection. This work can be done while trenching is In progres? on the east end of the extension. Mayor Fell this morning received a letter from the K. II Rollins fr Sons company, advising that the receut issue is-sue of bonds in the sum of $75,f00 had been accepted by the company and that money on the undertaking will be forthcoming. It is oxpected that the assembling of the wood stave pipe for the extension exten-sion on the east end will begin in about 30 days, by which time it is planned to have portions of tbe trench dug and read for the placing of the pipe |
