Show oo AOAMSON LAW Benefits of Railroad Measure Held Up Pending Outcome of Test Suit. New York, Dec. 28. The national conference committee of railroad managers and representatives of the four brotherhoods of railroad employes em-ployes resumed here today their conference con-ference relative to the application of the Adamson law In the event that it Is held constitutional by the United Unit-ed States supreme court. Through an agreement between Attorney General Gen-eral Gregory and the railroad attorneys, attor-neys, the effects of the Adamson law has been suspended pending the outcome out-come of the test suit. Therefore on January 1 the employes will ccntinue their work without any immediate benefits from the law, which was to have gone into operation on that day. A possible outcome of today's conference con-ference was the appointment of a joint board to determine the operation opera-tion of the law if its constitutionality is established. Chairman Nowlands of the Senate Interstate uommerce Committee today announced announc-ed it would hold a public hearing on January 5 on the Webb bill, permitting permit-ting American concerns to establish joint foreign selling agencies and on January 2 on the railroad legislation suggested by President Wilson to supplement the Adamson law. |
