Show ITHAW IS GIVEN HIS LIBERTY. No one will regret tbat Harry Thaw has been set free. The slayer of ! Stanford White should have been convicted at the time of his first trial or liberated. His detention since I then on the grounds of insanity has ' been a severe- strain on tho American ' sense of humor and much a travesty (j on justice. j Thaw, in a moment of intense jeal- - ous hatred, killed the man who', in pursuit ot a paramour, invaded his home. He made the mistake of 'his 1 life, but he rid society ot a libertine. ' The woman, over whom he quar reled was not purified by his desperate desper-ate act nor was she secured to him. He would have done better if he had placed both White and Evelyn out ot his life by forgetting that either one ever esiBted, but he was too high j1 strung and sensitive to be a philoso- I pher, so he fired the fatal shot. |
