Show fill MENUS AT THE ' WEBER ACADEMY ON FRIDAY The morning assembly today at the Webor academy was one of tho most auspicious that has boon hold, the principal feature of tho program being be-ing tho reading ot Marion Went-worth's Went-worth's drama, "War Brides," by Kathryn BasBett Pardoo. The gifted local reader held her studont audience audi-ence virtually spellbound with a powerful pow-erful interpretation of tho drama, made famous by the great Russiau actroBs Nazlmovo, through tho medium medi-um of the vaudovillo stage. At its conclusion, her effort was greeted with an ovation of applause and at tho close of the assembly hour sho received many compliments .irom faculty membors and visitors. Another pleasing part of the program pro-gram was the rendition of two violin vio-lin solos by Maynard Peterson. Today, the Initial number of the "Acorn," tho organ of the academy student body, was issued under tho title ti-tle of tho "Class Day Special," and proved to bo full of excellent Information Infor-mation concerning life at the academy acad-emy during the past three weeks and plans for the future. Class day Is to be celebrated tomorrow at the school and In the afternoon, tho following fol-lowing contests will be Btaged: 2 o'clock, Pushball contest, Seniors vs. Juniors. 2:15, sack rush, Sophomores Sopho-mores vs. Freshmen. 2:30, volley ball, Senior Girls vs. Junior Girls. 3, TonnlB, Faculty vs. Students. 3:20, Rival menu contests. Senior vb. Junior Ju-nior Girls and Sophomores vs. Freshmen Fresh-men Girls. Interest in the last mentioned contest con-test was reported this afternoon as being acute, the boy members of the different classes having put up 10 cents apiece to purchase the supplies needed by the girls In preparing the different menus. The donor of each 10 cent piece will act as a judge in the contest Tonight, at 8:15 o'clock, tho 1916-16 lecture course of tho academy will be opened with a lecture by Ralph Par-lette, Par-lette, under the title, of "The University Univer-sity of Hard Knocks.' Mr. Parlette arrived In the city this morning and he is said to be ono of the most Interesting In-teresting lecturers that ever graced the Lyceum platform. no |
