Tho initial strength was duo to rains In Kansas and Oklahoma Okla-homa and to higher quotations at Llvorpool. A large Increaso in rural notices of consignments to Chicago tended to hasten tho subsequent bearish bear-ish reaction. Opening prices, which ranged from 1-4 off to l-2c up, wcro followed by a decided setback all around. Fine weather eased tho corn market mar-ket Liberal receipts here were also in favor of the bears After opening l-S(gil-4 to 3-S(g)l-2c lower, prices underwent un-derwent a further sag. Oats went sharply downgrade. The impetus came from much improved conditions for the harvest. Higher prices for hogs lifted provisions. provi-sions. Gossip as to a better outlook for exports appeared to help the market mar-ket somewhaL The fact that some traders expected expect-ed the United States government to indicate a wheat crop of more than a billion bushels acted later as a weight on prices. The close was unsettled l-25-8 to 5-Sc net lower. No important rally in corn took place. The close was steady, but 3-Sl-2 to 3-4c under Saturday night's level.
