Show FIRE DESTROYS BIO ROPE MILL Trenton, N. j, xov if.Fire of undetermined origin which started in the new rope mill of the John A. Itoebllngs Sons companv early today shortly afterward spread to the old rope mill, and at 3 o'clock was still burning fiercely. At that hour the new mill had been completely destroyed de-stroyed and although the entire city nre department was fighting the flames, the fire spread rapidly. The firemen were greatly hindered bv the intense heat, which prevented 'them getting their apparatus nearer than a block from the blaze. Residents for several blocks around were driven from their homes by the heat and many of them moved their household goods Into the streets. The two rope mills occupied a space iS U'. C,ty 8('uares and tbe loss at this time was estimated at well above a million dollars. The company was engaged in the manufacture of large orders for chains and -barbed wire for the entente allies, al-lies, and the plant was running day and night. h J |
