Show WHY CATHOLICS GO TO CONFESS!, TO BE EXPLIEO Father O'Reilly's lecture, "Some Stumbling Blocks." was listened to attentively at-tentively by a large audience. He said in part When we speak of soldier mortally wounded, every' one knows that wo mean a wound which kills A mortal sin is one which kills the supernatural grace in the soul. Supernatural grace is to the soul what the soul Is to the body. The gravity of an Insult depends upon the dignity of tho person who receives it. A boy may strike his playmate, his sister his mother and the offense is measured by the claims which the boy has upon the one offended of-fended The degree of an honor depends upon the person conferring it A casual acquaintance confers no great uonor when he calls upon you, but a visit from a man of rank is a matter of pride. Sin Is an offense against God, hence the enormity of the offense. One of the stumbling blocks in the life of men is the sin of impurity This sin not only kills the soul but destroys tho mind and debilitates the body. Quoting Matthew V, 89-30, "And if thy right eye offend thee: pluck it out and cast It from thee, for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body be cast into hell And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it otr, and cast it from thee." Father O'Reilly told of Instances in which men had sacrificed parts jf their bodies that their lives might be saved, and explained that the diseased dis-eased eye or arm typifies some sin which will kill the soul. He urged men to live pure lives. Tho precepts of the church were explained ex-plained by Father Meagher to a large class at 7 o'clock.
