Show PITIFUL STATE OF THE MEXICANS Washington July b. Tlie first report re-port to the Red Cross on the relief situation in Mexico came today through Charles O'Connor, the Amer-icor. Amer-icor. agent who succeeded in getting through the Carranza lines and entered en-tered the capital with American Consul Con-sul General Shanklin yesterday. O'Connor described the food situation situa-tion as "exceedingly pitiful." In conferences con-ferences with various relief committees, commit-tees, he said he had been told that the plight of the non-combatants in small cities In the vicinity of the capital cap-ital was even worse than in Mexico City Itself. Monday his message was dispatched by a courier of the staff of the Brazilian minister to Pachuca vho has been endeavoring to arrange transportation of relief supplies from Vera Cruz but had not then completed complet-ed his negotiations. |
