Show EEEllEI BASEBALL I CIII LEAGUE H A large holiday crowd witnessed M two classy baseball games at Glen- H wood yesterday afternoon, the event H being a double header between four M city league teams. In the first con- M test, the Peery-Knisely team defeated H. the Glasmann Bowlers by the score m of 7"to 4 and in the second gtune, the B Mail Clerks were defeated by the fl' Walk-Overs by the score of 3 'to 2. M "Rawi" Greenwell, on the mound H for the Peerj'-ICniselys, played, a good M game, though 'he was a bit wild at H times. He struck out 11 opponents B and otherwise had 2 hits, 1 run, 1 H putout and 2 assists to his credit. H Against his record were 6 passes and M 2 wild pitches and he hit 3 batsmen H -with the ball. One of the latter, Hem- Hj Ie, was beaned with almosi serious H results. Ed Brophy, new:y signeu Hj by the Bowlers as a pitcher,, went Hj Greenwell one better in wildness, al- H lowing 2 passes, making 3 wild pitch Hl es and hitting one batsman twice in HL two innings. He then traded places with "Heinle" Williams and the fehange proved a good one. "Heinie" JPlayed a good all arouud game yes-Berday yes-Berday and he came in for consider- H able praise from the fans. Both H catchers also played their positions H well. The batting and base running H of Ecke, the Bowlers' third baseman, H and a three-base hit by Wilkinson H were features of the contest. H The second game proved one of the H most Interesting contests of the sea- H son, the re-organized Mall Clerks play- H ing the Walk-Overs almost to a stand- H still. Brickley pitched m his old- H time form and but for a freak in the 1 luck would have won his game. He j struck out 10 men and accepted 4 H chances on the field without an error. j The feature hit of the game was a 1 three-bagger by Checketts, while L. H Falck was the next best performer at H the bat, securing a two-base hit and M a single out of three times up. Three M double plays were staged during the H contest, the first by Layman and Falck, the second by Brickley and MvPcine and the third by Lnyman and VlFalck.
