STRAUSS DENIES HE IS PROGERMAN New York. Dec 2. Oscar S Straus, a member of The Hague tribunal, and former secretary of commerce and labor la-bor in the cabinet of President Roose velt, today denied the report that he had just resigned from the Japan so- lety because he sympathized with Jermany, with whom Japan Is at war. "This statement Is utterly false," said Mr. Straus. "I resigned from the Japan society a month ago as I did from a number of organuations. I did so because I wanted to cut off all unnecessary expense, and devote the monoy thus saved to the relief of thoso who suffered as the result of the war," Mr. Straus pointed to interviews granted by him in London last August and upon his return to this country to disprove the statement that he is pro-German.
