COal mlnor8. which was begun eight months ao, were to be made here today at a conference between representatives of the miners and op- erators The miners' represntaUvos are said to be prepared to demand 47 cents a ton on the "run of mine'' basis, while the operators are expected expect-ed to offer 44 cents a ton. Prospects Pros-pects of a compromise, however, are said to be bright. It Is estimated that 13.000 miners, Including their families, are practically practic-ally destitute as a result of the strike John P White, president of the United Uni-ted Mine Workers organization, and Ohio state and district officials are here to represent the miners at the conference. |
