Show CLOTHING OF KELLY FOUND NEAR RIVER Salt Lake, Jan. 23. Clothing which belonged to Hugh .1 Kelly, who disappeared dis-appeared last Tuesday and who is thought to have committed suicide by drowning in the Jordan river, was found on the bank of the Jordan near First South street late yesterday afternoon by police officers, who have been searching for Kelly's body. In a wallet found In the coat was a note addressed by Kelly to his wife. It read: Dear Jeannette Please forghe me, for I can't stand this no longer. Here is my ring aud gun and watch and all I have 1 pray you will forgive me You will find me here (Signed) H. JEFF KELLY With the clothing was found a .38 caliber gun, but the watch which Kelly spoke of in his letter could not be found. Grab hooks were used by the police during the afternoon In an effort to bring up the body if I it should be resting on the bottom A net is stretched across the river at the First South street bridge. If the body is not seen today, it is probable that dynamite will be used in an effort to locate the body. The officers in the search are Inspector In-spector Carl A. Carlson, Sergeant Thomas Simpson, Captain Emll John son, Chauffeur George Moore and Patrolmen Conyers, Willie, Merrick, Crosby, Calton and Domm Mrs J M Chantry of 1262 Iola avenue ave-nue reported to the police early yesterday yes-terday morning that her small son said he had seen an object which resembled re-sembled the body of a man in the river on Wednesday. |
