Show DEMONSTRATIONS ST THE PURE FOOD EXHIBIT The many features of excellence at the Ogden Pure Food shov, are being more appreciated each day by the large crowds of people that visit the Parry building, where the show is being held. A collection of gold and silver medals and several silver cups that are being shown at the booth of the Utah Canning company has been an education to many of the people as to the favorable recognition this Ogden Og-den company has received from fairs, held in many of the outside states. Among the many awards is a silver cup from the Utah State fair last year which was won by Its display of Pierce's Pork and Beans. A silver medal was also won at the state fair last year Gold medals for the best display and quality of canned can-ned vegetables were won in 1910, '11 and 12 and a gold medal was won in 1909 for the best quality of pork and beans. Gold medals won at the Lewis and Clark exposition at Portland, Ore, In 1905, the Four-State fair at Ogden in 1910 and the Uintah and Bear River County fair at Evan-ston, Evan-ston, Wyo . in 1913. A bronze medal from the Yukon Pacific exposition, at Seattle in 1909 Is also shown in the eollectlon. Vegetable soups and Pork and Beans of a quality to sat Isf the most particular palate are being served at the booth. Many gallons of rich buttermilk is being d'spensed daily at the booth of the Blackman and Griffin Com mission company and its display of young American and Cream cheese and Golden Rod butter Is also drawing draw-ing attention The serving of mush and pancakes by a representative of the Albers Milling company is adding to the pop ularity of Violet Onts and Alber's Pancake flour. A Utah product that is receiving its first Introduction to any extent, to the Ogden public is Agnews American Rocquefort . cheese It Is made In Salt Lake City and is being served In sandwiches by A. M. Peterson, the Ogden representative repre-sentative of the company. Apple cider of a purity and flavor hard to equal is being dispensed by the makers. George Thinnes & Sons Of Ogden The special attention of ladles who are interested in the making of desserts des-serts is being drawn to the booth of the 'Jello" company, where plain and whipped jello of all flavors and in many different forms is being served and directions for making are being ghen by the ladles in charge McDonald's "Don't boll chocolate," also a comparatively new product, is i creating considerable interest. The process of making the chocolate from j the cocoa bean is explained by one of the attendants The chocolate is put up in I'tah-made cans and the labels are also printed in the state. Cups of the hot chocolate are served at the booth and sample cans are given away The possibilities of Utah sugar for cooking purpose? is thoroughly dem- I onstrated at the booth of the Utah Sugar Manufacturers. Two young ladles are kept busy making and serving different kinds of candies I The process of making the sugar and the different stages of development are also explained and shown. Hundreds Hun-dreds of recipes for candies and the preserving of fruits have been given away at the booth during the week. The Shupe-W illiams Candy com-pany com-pany is receiving much favorable comment for the size and excellence of its exhibit In addition to using one of the large front windows and an Interior booth for its display of National and Utahna chocolates, the I company has one of the most attractive attrac-tive displays ever made in the city, I In the window of the Geo F Gave I Drug Go A representative of the I compan said today that they had i given away several hundred sample boxes of National chocolates and that they were prepared to handle the large crowds expected tonight and tomorrow. Heinzs' "fifty-seven areties"' has a close rival in the display of pickles, horseradish, mustard and sauces, of the Superior Horseradish and Pickle j company It would be difficult to imagine a wider variety of pickles, etc., than those put up by this Ogden Og-den company. The serving of several kinds of cider and soda water by the Crystal Bottling company has proven to many I people the excellent quality of Its temperance drinks. Its display Includes In-cludes practically every type of sum mer drink and in addition to dispensing dis-pensing samples of the bottled goods, the Crystal Bottling extends an Invitation In-vitation to the public to visit Its plant. The lovers of the "dutch lunch" I find attraction In the display of beer, near-beer and porter by the Becker Brewing & Malting company. The Panama-Canal show expects to end its stay in Ogden Saturday night and many people hnve received an excellent idea of its workings through examining the miniature and listening listen-ing to the explanatory lecture nr |
