Show BUSINESSMEN DO NOT H LICENSING LUNCH WAGONS More than fifty business men of the city have started a crusade u gainst the lunch wagons that ply at the curbs and other street places, contending that they are detrimental to more legitimate eating places and to business in general. A petition was filed with the board of city commissioners com-missioners this morning, asking that body to get rid of the wagons by iclu6lng to grant licenses The question ques-tion was referred to the committee of tho whole. The petition of property owners for sidewalks on several streets south of Taylor avenue, was granted, except aa to Mcintosh avenue, between Taylor and Fillmore avenues, and Fillmore aenue, on the west side, lrom Mcintosh avenue to Twenty fifth street. The action of the board was taken at the suggestion of Com mlssloner J C. Nye City Engineer H. J. Craven report ed that he visited the Cobble Creek dam site In South Fork. December 6. at which time he found there was much water in tho fracture near the upper edge of the faulted zone, and that it bad become necessary to use pumps to remove It The water, ho said, precluded him from making a erv close examination of the work on bed rock at that point. He also reported that he had appointed W. F. Irwin to check up on material, time etc.. In behalf of the city at a salary of 53 a day.
