F Grant of a letter from Mrs Belle Atkinson At-kinson of Griffin, Ga. . asking for information infor-mation concerning George Williams. I who at one time lived with Mrs. Ek-man, Ek-man, and who Is said by her to bo the father of the child who 6he on-fesBed on-fesBed she murdered Mrs Atkinson, Atkin-son, who writes that she Is the slsu-r ot a George Williams who disaji peared years ago. and for whom she has been searching ever since When Mrs Ekman was asked Inst night concerning Williams she said that she did not know- where he is at the present time, or whether he is alive She added that she did not know he had a sister named Belle At the time of her arrest sh Is alleged al-leged to have said that Williams was I now In California So trace of him has been found by the police Sherifr Smith said last night thai would at once start an energetic search for the man Chief Grant turned the let ter from Mrs Atkinson over to the sheriff's office Calm at Arraignment. I'crfectly calm, Mrs Ekman appeared ap-peared before Judge X. H Tanner yesterday morning for her arraign ment on the charge of murder In the first degree. Attorn George B Hancock, who Is associated in hfr defense with Attorney Claude T. Barnes. aBked that the time of entering enter-ing her plea be continued. Judge Tanner set the time at tomorrow morning at 9:80 o'clock. Attorney Hancock asked the court that an order be issued prohibiting further tests of the mental condition of the defendant, declaring that they were of no interest to any but the curious. A letter from Grace Mash of Port land, a former playmate of Francei Williams, thc murdered girl, was re cehed yesterday and given by the po lice to Mrs. Ekman. She read II without apparent emotion. In the let ter were two Sunday school cards sent as tokens of remembrance. The letter follows. "Portland, Ore.. June 29, 1013. "My Dear Friend Frances I will let 1 ou know 1 am all right and hope you tire the same. Why don't you write ! to me? What have I done to JTOUl : Let me know if It ly warmer In Salt Lake. It is good here, but it rains nil the time I took my first com-I com-I munlon. Let your mother write for I vou. When 1 think of you I cry Write quick and tell Pearl to write when you go to sewing; class. Tell the i teacher to w rite to me This Is all I 1 have to Bay Good-bye. The letter from Mrs Atkinson received re-ceived by Chief Grant reads as fol- lows "Griffin. Ga.. June 29. 1913 "Thief of Police. Salt Lake City: U "Will vou please give me informa-! informa-! tlon of George Williams, first hus-I hus-I band of Mrs Ekman who Is being held at Ogden. Utah, for the murder of her daughter, Frances Williams. 1 have ,i brother by the name of George ' Williams.
