Show STUDENTS ARE CELEBRATING TODAY Today was a holi lay at the Weber academy and. with the unfurling of the National flag from the top of the school building the greatest tribute that could have been uiven them the great "Weber Hasketball Five, state high school champions, were given a grand ovation In the exercises of the entire day Prior to the morning program at the school, which was held under the direction of President Jesse Cottle of the student bod. the auditorium had been decorated with numerous placards plac-ards of timeh composition These1 'w-rr- made by Lloyd Miller and Ren 1 Henderson With President Cottle seated on the stmd were the honored athletes! with their coach and manager. I). S. V team much credit for the manner in which it took defeat. He also snid that the blue pennant would be hung in the hall as soon is the word "Weber" wop placed on it. Seeral impromptu speeches were made by teachers and students and the schoo' yells and songs were prominent features At the close of the program, a vote of thanks was tendered the moss of the city fnr the support given the school athletics during the basketball basket-ball season The students then lined up in front : of the school and prepared to spread . their enthusiasm about the city which they did In royal style Headed by their president, thev started their march, over 4 r.o being in line, which moved in the following order: First cam two students carrying a bulletin banner bearing the words "T'tah State "'hampionfl,' then two students cnrrylng a large purple and white flag and a large national flag. The school band followed and be-tv. be-tv. ( en them and the student body were two large automobiles carryinc the State champion five, their coach, manager man-ager and members of the faculty. A young man. patched up as though he had been through an .iwful serim-magc, serim-magc, was hauled along the line of march to represent the defeated L r S D team and he carried a banner ban-ner bearinc the infills nf th;it school With yells and songs, the yonng-i yonng-i sf ers took their courso north from the school to twenty-fourth street, 1 thence east to Monroe avenue, south to the Ogden high school They halted halt-ed at (he high school and, with mil-j mil-j sic and veils for both schools, they invited th. i;rlon high school Jtu-dents Jtu-dents to Join them The High school students thereupon went on strike j and followed the Weberltes down town, joining them at the corner of i Twenty-fifth street and Washington avenue, with the Cadet bugle corps From then on it was not onlv a Weber We-ber academy day, but an Ogden day From Twenty-fifth street. the throng of students marched north to Twenty-secon,i street, countermarched countermarch-ed to Twentx -fourth street, thence , wesl to the office of The Standard. I where they gae an enthusiastic display dis-play of appreciation for the support gr en them by this paper. Then thev continued on to Hudson avenue to ex-tenl ex-tenl another newspaper greeting Down Twenty-fifth street to the l'n-ion l'n-ion depot went the line of march, c e.imter-marchlng to Jefferson avenue and then north to the school, and the big public demonstration was ended The school celebration, however, was not ended Taggarl and Fletcher the hoys who know how to do things up just right, had leen appointed to arrange for a rousing finish to the glorious occasion and thev raised a bunch of the ""necessary" and boughl a thousand icre-crer.m cones and: plenty of other refreshments for such j an affair.
