POSTPONED GAME WOKJYABTHUR Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short One Run, and Millmen Beat Copper, 7 to 6 in Thrilling Contest. The Copper team dropped into the cellar Friday afternoon of last week when the Arthur team won a thriller 7 to 6, the Millmen narrowly avert-ing defeat when the Copper staged a ninth inning rally that netted them three runs, with the tying and win-ning runs on the bases." Manager Mohler brought out his right handed ace, "White" Cooper, and he pitched a great game for eight innings, holding the Copper men to seven scattered hits and three runs, while his team mates piled up seven runs off "Dutch" Greshner. Only a fair sized crowd attended the game, which was marred by poor officiating, the fans seeming to con-tent themselves with "razzing" the umpires rather than watch the game. Brilliant fielding by Glcaves of Ar-- I thur and Dow of the Copper team' helped to make the game a thriller, these two lads getting no less than 11 putouts between them. Arthur drew first blood in the in-itial frame when with one out, Myer singled to center, went to second when Cleaves walked, went to third on an out, and scored on Facer's sin- - gle to right. Barrett, who had fore-- 1 cd (Heaves at second went to third on the play and scored when Webb singled to right field. They scored another in the third when Myer singled to right, went to second after Dow caught (Heaves' long fly, and scored on Facer's sin-gle to center. The Copper scored a marker in the third on a fielder's choice by I'.uckle, a stolen base and Muir's triple to the left field fence. Arthur again did some damage in the fifth by scoring two mure runs. With two men out, liarrctt singled to center, and went to second on Facer's hit to right. This was Facer's third straight hit of the game. Webb tripled to deep right, scoring Barrett and Facer. Bingham scored another marker in the sixth, on a double by Fete Dow and a single by Whiteley. The visitors made their last marker in the eighth frame when two run-ners spiked the platter. With one out, Flint sent a single to center, and was safe at second when Stillman missed Garrett's throw of Cooper's roller. Curtis singled to right, and Flint scored when Whiteley juggled the ball. Cooper going to third froni where he scored a minute later on Myers' long sacrifice fly to Buckle. Bingham scored one in the eighth on a single by Muir, a double by Dow and a sacrifice fly by Whiteley. The ninth was the big inning for ( the Copper. Greshner started with j I a clean single to lett, anu went 10 third on Buckle's double and both scored on Baty's sinple to right field. Baty went to second on the throw in, and went on to third when Myers made a nerror on Muir's roller. Man-ager Mohler became disturbed and chased Cooper to the dugout, and sent in Draper. I.edinghani forced Muir at second, Baty scoring on the play. Dow sent a long fly to Glcaves, and then Webb erred on Whitelcy's roll-er. Morley ended the game with a long fly to right field. Facer led the attack for his team with four hits in five trips to the I plate, while I'ete Dow of the home j team was credited with two g hits. 1 Dowdell was sent from the field by j Umpire Edwards in the sixth fur dis- - ii puting a decision. Only twice during the first part of the session was the Bingham goal in danger, and in each instance ' Wharton saved with ease. Toward the latter part of the first t half, Mannion made a try with a long - - shot, but the ball went wide. Half time ended with neither team show-ing much class, although the visitors displayed considerable more speed than did the home boys. A steady rain was falling when the second half started, with the Vikings keeping the Bingham backs quite busy. Hansen tried three corner kicks, but all went wide, and no dam-age resulted. Bingham pressed and Andreasen , saved from Carr. The Vikings again pressed, and severely threatened the home goal, but fine work by Whar-ton and the backs kept the dangerous Norsemen away from the coveted mark. Twenty minutes after the second half was under way, Carr made a good run, and sent a low shot past Andreasen, but Referee Whitting claimed Carr off side, and the goal was not allowed. The visitors were allowed a foul kick, and with some clever work, , Captain Johansen of the Vikings car ried the ball within striking distance, and sent a shot past Wharton for the only score of the afternoon. The Bingham contingent failed to play up to its former ability, missing many chances to register. Several times during the game the wings sent beautiful centers, but no one was there to follow them up. The team work of the locals was the poorest they have shown this year.
