Show K NU WN CITIZEN JOSHUA F GRANT LAID IN HIS FINAL RESTING PLACE deceased wa was formerly manager of the consolidated wagon and machine co here the funeral services of joshua F grant were held thursday at bis his late residence sixth street in salt lake city the ceremonies took place in presence of a large assemblage ot of friends and aal relatives and were in charge of the masonic Mason le fraternity worshipful master aster kf samuel samut 1 C park of wai catch satch lodge odge 1 no 1 conducting the services the ceremonies were only brief and followed the well known ritual A short address was made by rev elmer L I 1 goshen who Is also a music for the occasion consisted of come colne ye disconsolate and A night of rest rendered bv by a male malo quartet composed of ashworth graham Christo pherson and squires the regular masonic ceremonies were also observed at the grave the In interment torment taking place at the city cemetery the pallbearers pall bearers were six nephews nephew 1 I of the deceased grant 11 hampton ampton dr T G odell W G hampton of ogden dr R R hampton J fred odell and joseph H richards A large number of beautiful floral tributes were placed upon the casket in testimony of ef the love and esteem with which the deceased bad been regarded among the other pieces wag was one especially beautiful in tho form of a pillow the tribute of mr grants four brothers heber J B F hyrum and morgan grant another offering was a pillow from his 0 only surviving sister mrs florence C odell a during the funeral the premises of the consolidated wagon and machine company of which the deceased was one ono of the original founders were closed to enable the em aloyes to attend the services joshua F grant was born bom at bountiful utah oi oo 00 april 13 and was consequently just pat his fifty first year he ile was the son of jedediah Jed edlah 1 M I grant and louisa marle goley grant he ile spent all his life in utah and had a very good business career ever since his boyhood he wai was a merchant at frico frisco utah in the early eighties and then moved to salt lake in 1883 where he assisted haber heb er J grant and gearge T odell in organizing the firm of grant odeil odell a co from which grew the co operative cooperative wagon and machine company he ile was manager of that institution for some time the present consolidated wagon and machine company of which bis broth er ln in law gw bearge ri T odell Is manager was the outgrowth out growth of the former company mr grant was once a member of the city boand boad of education and ana was a prominent member of tho the commercial club at ibo time of his death he was local manager of the american steel and wire company chiso whoso business lie has bandied handled most successfully tho the general manager of the company at denver E it pool came to salt lake to attend the funeral mr grants wide acquaint acquaintance anee in utah his personal popularity due to his uniform geniality and his reputation for probity built him up a wide circle of friends his ills death leaves a large gap and tho the sincere sympathy of the community Is extended to his family in their berea bereavement ament |
