Show RICH STRIKE ON NEVADA COPPER AND GOLD ORE RUNNING TO THE TON STRUCK at point sixty miles from the june alon of nevada northern and southern pacific r from tuesdays standard general manager beatly ot the nevada northern roid now being built irom omar on the southern pacific to ely new was in the city yesterday for christmas he reports that the new road Is progressing as favorably as it could possibly be expected and that it will bo completed within the time provided in the contract he also reported that sixty miles from omar the point at which grading is now being done that ore ning at least to the ton has joeen struck and that the vein which Is copper and gold is of high grade air beatty is enthusiastic over the prospects tor ely and of course the road in which ho la interested and firmly believes that within a short time after the road is completed ely will have become one of the most prosperous mining camps in the state already many business men have visited the camp tor the purpose of looking over the ground with a view to entering business there and have gone into the camp in spite of the hardship attending the trip at present the only way to get to ely is from wells by stage line which route Is ag miles longer than the route of the nevada northern from omar much of the material lor the construction st of the smelter to be built at ely is at omar and as soon as tho line is completed it will be rushed to ho site it has been learned that the eastern interests at ely caused the new york herald a short time ago to send a special correspondent into the field to investigate vesti gate conditions and report anil that that paper is preparing a special article in regard to what has been called the greatest copper camp in the world mining engineers and others who are familiar with the camp are the authorities ties that ely will become the greatest copper camp in the world and all jhc have been there are enthusiastic over the prospects one man who has teen in ely said last night that if ho were a younger man he bould settle there for he believed that no greater opportunity was ever offered to a young man with brains and push than was presented at that place it Is expected that as soon as tho oad is completed that there will be an influx of who will seek employs ment in the smelter and mines |
