Show JUDGE IS EASY ON HOLIDAY DRINKERS Because Christmas comes but once a year, Judse W. H Reeder was not harsh with those who were brought before him to answer to the charge of drunkenness. Without an exception excep-tion Christmas spirit was the excuse offered by those who treated themselves them-selves too generously yesterday. James Carr selected Christmas to pay his bills and proved to his satisfaction sat-isfaction that the Yuletide season is a good one in which to square accounts, ac-counts, for he was given a drink wherever he paid a bill. Because it was Christmas he could not refuse the cheer offered and the result was that he landed in jail. This excuse did not satisfy the judge and Carr had another one on the Up of his tongue, and finally as a climax told the court that his wife was ill and needed him. This last shot hit the mark, and "Jimmie" was given a suspended sentence. J. H. Fiant and T. H Collis pleaded plead-ed guilty to being drunk on Christmas Christ-mas day, but as they had made no great disturbance they were dismissed dismiss-ed with a lecture. |
