Show THEY UNITE TO FIGHT FIRES District Forester E. A. Sherman and Assistant District Forester A. C. McCain Mc-Cain have returned from Boise, Ida., where they met with the state land board and representatives of tho Payette Pay-ette and Barber Lumber companies. As a result of tho conference Idaho will have better protection against fire this year than heretofore. The Gem state and the two largo lumber companies have extenslvo timber tim-ber holdings in Idaho and they are desirous of aiding tho forest service in protecting their Interests agajnst fire Heretofore tbere has been disconcerted dis-concerted action on the part of all parties concerned In fighting foresr fires along the Payette. Boise and Wclscr rivers, but this year co-operation will bo the rule. Idaho has a fire law which provides for the districting of the timber lands of the state Into fire sections, with a warden in charge of each district The two lumber companies have provided for the employment of fire fighters, they to co-operate with the state wardens and the fire fighting forces of the forest service. It was agreed at the Boise meeting that In case of fire tho state warden will be conferred with and all the fighting strength of the state, the lumber companies and the national forest service will be combined on the fire line. 00 |
