Show PINCHOT HAS A NEW PLAN Progressives to Select Roosevelt or La Fol- lette as Candidate Denver, Jan. 20. The Republican here today says a concerted plan is on foot to call a national meeting of Progressive Republicans to decide upon a choice between Roosevelt and La Follette as candidate for the nomination nom-ination to head the Republican presidential pres-idential ticket and the support of the Progressives at tho coming convention, conven-tion, J. S. Temple, a leading Republican Repub-lican of Denver, is in receipt of a letter let-ter from Glfford Plnchot at Washington, Washing-ton, Baying that a working agreement has been made between supporters of Roosovelt and La Follotto with the idea of concentrating Progressive strength in tho Republican national convention to bring about the defeat of Taft for ronomlnation. The plan, as set forth, is for a moeting of Progressive delegates to tho national convention, to be held several days before the convention, to determino which of the two, Roosevelt Roose-velt or La Follette, will have tho strongest support and to place the name of the stronger before tho convention con-vention The letter, however, docs not state whether Roosovelt or La Follette either havo sanctioned tho plan, or whether a willlngnoss has been expressed by 'Roosevelt to run, should he be favored by the nomination. nomina-tion. oo |
